Rachel Marie Paling founded Efficient Language Coaching in 2008. Rachel started teaching English as a Foreign Language to adults over 20 years ago when she moved to Spain and lived there between 1983 and 1995. After obtaining a BA Honours in Law and Spanish (with distinction in spoken Spanish) at the University of Sheffield (UK) she then did a Masters in Human Rights and Democratization (EMA) at the University of Padua, Italy and Ruhr-Universität Bochum, Germany. She continued with her studies and qualified as a solicitor (UK Lawyer) in the year 2003, but instead of pursuing a career as a lawyer, she really wanted to combine her teaching experience, her specialisation in business English and her legal knowledge to create a new type of training and so Rachel decided to focus on specialised language coaching.

From 2003 to 2009 Rachel was working as a freelance language coach across Europe, with principal business in both Germany and Italy, where she then perfected her Italian language and started learning German. Over these years Rachel then began her training as a “coach” and undertook an advanced diploma in Life Coaching and also did various training with Results Systems Coaching.

Now based in Germany, Rachel is currently giving legal English coaching and business English coaching as well as language coaching workshops and seminars for all topics with specialisation in giving presentations and public speaking, business communication and English cultural training.

Her clients include board members, executives, lawyers, politicians, journalists etc. Fascinated by the topic of languages, Rachel now speaks English, Spanish, Italian, German (ongoing),(rusty) French, has some knowledge of Catalan, basics of Arabic and Russian.

This fascination with languages and language coaching has been the main inspiration for Rachel to create the first Language Coaching Certification course in the world to be accredited by the International Coaching Federation. For this course, she has written a comprehensive Language Coaching Manual and the course teaches how principles of traditional coaching, the neuroscience of learning and new language coaching models and tools created by Rachel are all used to form the ELC Language Coaching method, a method which brings neuroscience and coaching into language teaching/training.
